Featured Employees - Housekeeping Department

Seaside proudly announces its recent award of the of Excellence from the Myrtle Beach Area Hospitality Association in recognition of our property's consistent record in cleanliness.

Seaside's Housekeeping staff works hard on a daily basis, seven days a week, ensuring not only that condominiums are maintained at sparkling standards of cleanliness, but also that the common areas such as the pool, bathrooms, lobby, and other similar areas also remain spotless on a shift-by-shift basis. Each housekeeper provides his or her own brand of customer care with quality service in a timely and friendly manner, and this award reflected the overall team spirit. While responsibilities vary, duties generally include deep cleaning and maintaining assigned areas, setting-up and maintaining complimentary hotel lobby functions, restocking housekeeping stations, and delivering service items such as towels to guest rooms at request.

Good job, Housekeepers!

What's THAT at the Bottom of Seaside's Homepage?

At your next visit to Seaside's web homepage, scroll down and notice the new icons. They are symbols for the social networks such as Twitter and Facebook. Still puzzled? Social networking web sites can keep you informed about where to vacation, what the latest discounts are, what some of the latest events are, and so on. We even put up the newsletters there.

If you would like to join in and have not already discovered these three facets of our website located at the bottom of the home page, we hope after reading this article that you will notice them and try them. We encourage you to link to us and "tweet" to us.

Look for these icons:

TWITTER Started in 2006 as a free social networking and micro-blogging service, Twitter enables its users to send and read other users' updates known as tweets. Regularly, we "tweet" about the beach weather, links to the newsletters, and events that are going on here and around the Grand Strand. When you see this icon, click on it to connect with the SeaSide Twitter site.

FACEBOOK is another social networking website tool, launched in 2004. Users can join networks organized by city, workplace, school, and region to connect and interact with other people. One of the more popular features of Facebook is photo applications where people can post albums with up to 200 photos.

STUMBLEUPON is an internet community that allows users to discover websites such as ours and rate them. If you enjoy our website at www.seasidemb.com, then you could go to Stumbleupon and rate it. That way, others can try it, too. This technology is people-friendly and built for sharing information.

Information on the internet changes rapidly, and with the aid of these three internet tools, Seaside can share its news with anyone interested in relaxing at the beach at affordable rates!

Children's Activities This Summer

Imagine a vacation where your children could sign up for fun poolside or beach-front activities while you took advantage of some "down" time in a spa treatment customized massage! Imagine sitting by the pool and watching your children having the time of their life in games of beach sports or arts and crafts while you sunbathe!

Ahhhh, the beach! Summertime fun activities range from visits to the pool and beach to scheduling fun things to do from Tuesday through Saturday, 9:30 am to 4:00 pm. For the poolside organized activities, eligibility begins at age 5. Please note that coordinators cannot supervise children before and after activities. Receive more information about specific days and times from the front desk when you check in.

Provided by the American Hospitality Academy's most creative coordinators of fun and action, these energizing and creative projects are subject to change, depending on the weather. Though some of the items require a nominal fee to cover the costs of materials such as coloring equipment and shirts for tie-dying, most are free to guests staying at Seaside. The sign-up table is located near the pool.

Featured Recipe - Peach Cobbler

Peaches are native to China, but we in South Carolina claim them as our own. South Carolina is second only to California in producing the largest number of peaches in the U. S. Their bloom time is March - April, and their production time is June-July. Nothing says "summer" like fresh peaches or peach pie or peach crumble or peach preserves or peach anything. Here is a tasty recipe for peach cobbler.

Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup unsalted melted butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cup sugar (or add sweetener to taste)
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 4 cups pealed, pitted, and thinly sliced fresh peaches (5-6 medium peaches)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

DIRECTIONS:
  • Preheat over to 350 degrees
  • Pour the melted butter into a 13"x9"x2" baking dish. In a medium bowl, combine flour, 1 cup of the sugar, baking powder and salt, and mix well. Stir in the milk, mixing until just combined. Pour this batter over the butter but do not stir them together.
  • In a small saucepan, combine the peaches, lemon juice and remaining ½ cup of sugar and bring to a boil over high heat, stirring constantly. Pour the peaches over the batter but do not stir them together. Sprinkle with cinnamon or nutmeg if desired.
  • Bake in the oven for 40 to 45 minutes or until the top is golden brown. Serve warm or cold. Best served warn with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Guest Comments

When guests take the time to send a note sharing their feelings and experiences from their vacation at Seaside, we delight in reading each one. Here are some of the recent ones:

We were there for Christmas week in 2008. We had the 3 bedroom condo, and we loved it and want to come back this Christmas. It was so beautiful, and everyone was so nice; we can't wait to come back. Thanks for everything. Love it, Love it! Email from newsletter response from the Graham family, 05.27.09.

Our stay at seaside was very nice. It is a clean and well run resort. We made reservation via the internet. That worked out nicely. When reservations were made we were given a confirmation number. I suggest that you follow that up with a auto reply to the senders e-mail address of that conformation.

I enjoyed reading this newsletter - very information and fun. I really liked the welcome article about your new front desk manager, Brad. I think this is a great idea so guests can put a face with a name and know who to speak with for questions or concerns that cannot be handled by front desk staff. A monthly introduction to different employees would be a great way for guests to get to know the staff at all your resorts. I have previously vacationed at the Seaside, Avista, and Prince resorts. My favorite, to date, is the Seaside Resort. My sister, nephew, and myself stayed at the Seaside for 4 days and thoroughly enjoyed our 3 bedroom corner unit - the views were awesome! The fact that we all had separate bedrooms and bathrooms was a huge plus. The staff at the Seaside was very pleasant and helpful also. My sister is physically challenged, and we found the parking accommodations to be much better than at either of the other resorts. The Avista and the Prince resorts were very nice, but the parking is an issue at both of the other resorts, the Avista in particular. The parking is confusing in general, but especially when it comes to finding handicapped parking as there are very limited handicapped spaces that fill up quickly. We were concerned on several occasions that we would not be able to find a space under the building and would have to park across the street. That would not have been an option with my sister's wheelchair. But, the attendants were helpful each time we had questions. The facilities are both nice, and the staff at both resorts were very helpful. I am anxious to try the Towers on the Grove. It appears to be an exceptional facility with upscale furnishings and excellent oceanfront views. I will be booking a stay at this resort soon. Thank you for providing such fine options for staying in North Myrtle Beach, which is one of my favorite spots on the east coast.
